“Project Pitch It”, the show where local entrepreneurs and their ideas are put to the ultimate test. Each week, three aspiring — and often inspiring — local entrepreneurs get the chance to pitch their innovative new ideas to a panel of area business moguls. These successful self-made millionaires then pepper the entrepreneurs with questions, assess the potential of each idea and finally present awards with a total value of nearly $30,000 designed to help each entrepreneur move their business to the next step. The awards range from free tuition for mentoring and office space at Cardinal Stritch University, mentoring at the Lubar Center for Entrepreneurship or $10,000 cash.

Caveman Skullies is the creation of husband and wife duo Nick and Abrianna Loomis. The couple loves riding motorcycles and the outdoors. A retired, disabled veteran, Nick suffers from a perforated eardrum that causes equilibrium issues when wind or cold air enters his ear while riding his motorcycle. A mortar blast while serving in Iraq in 2005 also left Nick with leg paralysis and PTSD. One day, while riding, Nick came up with an idea for a functional beanie to safely wear with riding glasses that could prevent the equilibrium issues caused by the wind.
Abrianna took Nick’s idea and worked hard on fine-tuning the perfect solution. What started as a remedy for Nick to wear while riding is developing into a stylish, functional accessory anyone can wear.
Riding motorcycles has been very therapeutic for the couple. It has inspired them to help other veterans and service members struggling with PTSD and depression through their charity lines. www.cmskullies.com/

In German, the word for voice is “stimme”. We thought Stimmi was the perfect name for our company because Germany was the place where Deb’s son became non-verbal and later diagnosed with autism. This is the place where the journey began… Deb and Laura are co-founders of Stimmi. As parent and professional, we have both seen the issues that happen when a disabled person is not able to express themselves. Parents want the best for their children, they fear “What happens to my child when I’m not there or if I am unable to care for them?” This is why we are so passionate about Stimmi. We came up with the concept for Artery Ink when we decided to eat healthier ourselves and learn more about how our bodies work. Blue Mangoes was founded by students in Milwaukee to transform the natural abundance and waste of fruits in impoverished communities across the world into a product sold here in the United States. We started with the dehydrator. Using the power of the sun, the air inside the dehydrator is heated and rises naturally through the tunnel and then into the chamber. The hot air passes through the fruit which dries within a day. The dehydrator is made entirely out of locally-sourced materials and no electricity is used. Once we established the technology, we developed our model. We travel to each community to help them construct and learn about the dehydrator. Once the dehydrator is built, we leave them with a construction manual so that they can build more if they choose to do so. Once the community has dried enough fruit, we buy it from them and it is shipped back to the United States.
